3 days rest is one thing but going back to back 3 days rest if it goes to game 7 for CC is a toughie. As Oct turns into Nov it starts taking its toll. I say if the Yanks win it, it will be on a high scoring game. They got to light up either Pedro or whoever does game 7 ( if lee wins tonight ).

I don't know it took all Pettitte had to fight his way to a win in this game and Andy on 3 days rest? You could be talking about a guy who is throwing 84-87 instead of his regular 86-91, his cutter wasn't good tonight and his location was terrible. He deserves a lot of credit for battling his way to a win tonight but will he have the strength at this age to bounce back and even give you a start? I mean if Gaudin goes bad couldn't you put Pettitte in the pen to back him up?

I just don't see Gaudin as much of an option. You don't think Pettitte on short rest gives you a better chance to win than Chad Gaudin who hasn't started a game in weeks? No matter what happens, Pettitte wil battle.

Yeah but pitching AJ and Andy on short rest are totally different than pressure, both men are in their 30s and Andy is on the back end of that green and approaching 40 do you really want a guy like that having to go out on short rest and be hit or miss on his effectiveness. Yes AJ earned his money last time out but is he reliable even on regular rest? The answer is no, on short rest you really don't know what your getting. Starting Gaudin in game 5 is not something you want to do but this what happens when you don't have a real 4th starter.

Putting the pressure on Andy and AJ is the best thing that Joe could do, Andy likes the pressure and does well under these scenarios. AJ earned his rank last time out, it was a must win for us, as is this one.
I look for a good game from all three of them.

Andy hasn't made a short rest start in over 120 starts I really don't see the Yankees asking him to do something he hasn't done in years, at this point that is like asking Pettitte to pitch a complete game he can do a lot at this game but those 2 aren't part of it. If giving Gaudin a start against Lee is a guaranteed win for the Phillies then CC's start is a guaranteed win for us in game 4. The best idea is to go with CC in 4, Gaudin in 5, AJ in 6 and Sabathia in the 7th game and have Andy in the bullpen for game 6 in case AJ needs to come out after 4 or 5 because he is pitching poorly.

Games 3 and 4 should give us a huge pitching advantage. This is not to say we will win them, but there is a better than normal chance for us to do so. Whatever happens, AJ's next start, and Andy's too (after tonight) will be their last for the season. If we end up losing the series, I'd rather it be with CC, AJ and Andy than Chad Gaudin (no offense, Chad). Let's be honest - Gaudin v Lee in game 5 is pretty much handing the game over. AJ may not give us the advantage, maybe not even a coin toss, but he gives us our absolute best chance to come back to the stadium with a 3-2 lead, or even wrap it up in Philly.
