Adam and Eve video According to Jordan Bastian’s (MLB) Twitter page, the Yankees are one of the many teams that have expressed a “serious interest” in Roy Halladay. The Red Sox, Dodgers, Cardinals and Mets, are some of the other teams that have also expressed an interest in him. Now, if Roy Halladay is available then obviously any team would want him and the Yankees are no different. However, as I stated yesterday, I don’t think they will actually deal for him as it would take a bevy of young, quality players to get him. They may just be driving up the price for other suitors.

I agree with this…anytime an ace is available and the Red Sux are interested…the Yanks gotta drive up the price as much as they can…but overall i doubt Doc will stay in the AL East..i would take a lot of nice prospects from NY/Bos to get him from Toronto…im figuring he ends up with the Phillies.

I wrote yesterday that I favored making a strong offer for Halliday. If the Yankees are thinking in terms of a 3-4 year window for this team to contend for World Series victories, Halliday certanly improves their prospects. I would add that the team is built to win now and for the next few years. After that, the core will be well past its prime.
But I also recognize that several factors weigh against a Yankee deal for Doc. It is likely he’ll demand an extension as a condition for approving a trade, and the extension would kick in when he is 34-years-old. I would expect him and his agent to demand an extra four years, perhaps more. So the team that acquires him would be locked into a very expensive contract for a guy who is 36-years-old and beyond. Few pitchers (esp. in the post-steroid era) will remain effective front-of-rotation starters at that age. The real danger is that by the third year of the extension (possibly sooner), say in 2013 and 2014, the Yankees would be paying him, C.C., and A-Rod more than $20 million per year apiece and all would be well past their peak performance. That would be an enormous burden on the team payroll.
On balance, it comes down to a trade-off — improve significantly the odds of world championships for the next 3-4 years but at the price of an unmanageable salary burden beginning roughly five years from now that would make it difficult to reconstruct a contending team.

look. Halladay makes you better, period. He is better than Joba, he is better than Pettite, and he is better than Wang. He will make AJ better, he will make Joba better. He can help you win this year and next year, etc. And you don’t want to give up prospects for him? I understand, you don’t give up Joba or Hughes. But I would send Jackson and Duncan for him in a heart beat and if you wouldn’t you need your head examined. The season is now. Not 5 years from now, NOW. You have to want to win now. and Halladay gives you that chance. Its your own fault for signing guys (AROD) to long stupid deals. Who wants a 41 year old ARod who can barely play a good 3rd base now. This team will end up being old and over paid soon enough, so why not go for it all now and do something to push yourself for this year. Make the trade.

With Yankees starting pitching in dire straits this deal for Halladay has to get done. This team is built to win now and not tomorrow, or the core of the group of players will be way past their prime and we won’t win again for sometime.

I say offer up Joba in this deal. Yes we need this deal. Joba is being coddled and is a real headcase. Too arogant and stubborn to even admit it when he stinks…which is most of the time. Put him up for trade bait and keep Hughes. Maybe the Jays will take Joba, Molina, Ransom and Joe Girardi. The Yanks lost the spark that Cervelli and Pena gave them. Heck, give the Jays Arod!
