Salome move Turns out the report by Jack Curry was the result of a miscommunication between his editor and BA’s John Manuel. Here’s the follow up story from BA:

Aroldis Chapman set off a flood of speculation when he defected from the Cuban National team last week, with questions about whether he’ll break the international signing bonus record, when he will become eligible to sign and which club will end up landing him.
But nothing seems to have stuck more than Jack Curry’s report in the New York Times that Aroldis Chapman may be 26 years old, five years older than the 21 he’s listed at by the Cubans. Curry wrote that “reports in March at the World Baseball Classic said he was 26.”
Melody full movie In an e-mail response, Curry explained that the line was added by an editor. It is based on a New York Times story from the World Baseball Classic on March 13, when Dan Rosenheck listed Chapman’s age as 26. There is no explanation why Chapman was listed at 26 at the time

. In a later e-mail, Curry said the sourcing for Chapman’s age came from a conversation with Baseball America’s own John Manuel. Rosenheck misunderstood Manuel at best, as Manuel says he did not tell Rosenheck that Chapman was 26, and BA has no documentation suggesting his age is anything other than 21. In fact, Manuel explained that Cuban players’ ages are more well-documented than any other Latin American prospects because they participate in international tournaments from a young age.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines This changes everything. If he was 26, he could just be a left handed Kyle Farnsworth, a pitcher with a golden arm who has no idea where the ball is going and never will. But at 21, you figure he’s raw and hasn’t received the kind of training he will with the MLB clubs. He should be more coachable and less set in his ways.
Make no mistake, he’s a project. One with enormous upside. His fastball fluctuates in velocity in a fairly pronounced way, 90 MPH on one pitch and 100 MPH on then next. That leads me to believe he has some kinks in his mechanics that need to be worked out. Once you do that, his control should improve as well. Once signed, the smart move will be to be patient. Send him to instructs first, then let him work his way through the minors, the same way you would with a 21 year old College pitcher. If all goes well, he’ll be with a MLB club a year or two after he signs, but even him signing is about a year away. It took 11 months for recent Cuban defectors LHP Noel Arguelles and SS Jose Iglesias to clear their paperwqork with Major League Baseball.
But make no mistake, his price just doubled.

he has poor control and no breaking pitches. is the ability to throw 100 with the left arm reason enough to sign him?
