I’m sorry, but the Sox threw at us for years when they couldn’t beat us. That’s an act of frustration, I’d rather find ways to beat them on the field rather than console myself with beanball wars.

That’s not to say we should be pin cushions, either. Torre took this good idea too far by telling pitchers not to protect their hitters. Occasional retaliation is fine, and can even be a good thing for team unity. But those incidents should be few and far between.

JeffG: I think after that A-Rod plunking it would only be right if we start the next series with a fastball right at Youk.That should cear the benches and hopefully get our guys fired up.

It really shouldn't take that to get fired up. Going into the series there had already been 11 batters hit. We hit 9 of 11. It hasn't exactly worked well up to this point. We need to play better in every facet of the game. We need to make the plays in the field, avoid stupid base running errors and like Trev says, we need clutch hits with runners in scoring position. We just left too many on base. We had so many chances in the three games. I know everyone is going off on Joe, but I have to say my anger is more with Cashman. Hopefully he can get the job done and bring some arms for the pen to go with the guys we have coming back. Hopefully Nady will be all right. That has to be one of the worse Yankee outfields ever assembled in my lifetime.

Good point about Boston’s relievers- the yanks scored 2 runs on homers and then added a single against ramon ramirez, the yanks on thurs scored three runs on delcarmen.
what is irritating is that we couldnt score on a pitcher w a 6 era! we need to hit better in the clutch. hopefully w nady coming back in a few weeks (crossing fingers), that will lengthen the lineup and fix the consistent problem of not scoring w risp

Penny throwing at Arod isn’t the reason why the Yankees couldn’t hit him. Sure it had “6-0 written all over it” lot of games against the RS this year looked like that. But once again they fail with RISP.
Batting .134 against the Red Sox. They missed a bunch of FB down the middle. Just inexcusable.
