Pushing Tin ipod According to Pete Abe, Alex Rodriguez was in tonight’s lineup but was then pulled due to fatigue and will sit for the next two games. This sounds like Alex asked out of the lineup, something he should have done a week ago. In fact, Joe Girardi admitted that it was his mistake to put Alex in the lineup for every single game since his return from hip surgery. Alex is at .145/.309/.291 for June, and clearly needed a day or two off. Hopefully the time off allows him to turn it around.

    More lousy managing by Girardi.

C’mon, scott. If you think what ails this team is Joe Girardi, I really can’t help you. All managers make mistakes. Watching a lot of baseball on the mlb.tv package, I feel he makes less than most. But you believe whatever you need to believe.

Moshe Girardi lies all the time he’s just more coy about it this year. Starting in spring training with his stupid explanation for batting Jeter before Damon. We all know he can quote the numbers when he wants too so I find him dishonest. I see Girardi over managing all the time. I like many are disappointed in him.

Just because you disagree with him does not mean he is overmanaging. Sometimes there are two right answers, and just because he does not pick yours does not make him a bad manager.

Moshe let me ask you if you are happy with the job Girardi has done? Do you think another manager would have done better? I do. Personally I wouldn’t mind the Yankees replacing Girardi with Dave Miley.

I am happy with the job he has done. He has done a good job keeping his relievers fresh, and until this A-Rod thing, done an excellent job judiciously using off days to keep his older regulars fresh. Strategically, I dont always agree with him, but I dont think you can judge a manager like that- as I said before, sometimes there are more than one answer, and just because he does not have exactly the same philosophy as I do doesn’t mean he isn’t good. He has made very few egregious, oh my god what the heck, type errors. I seriously challenge people to give me some specific examples of those type of mistakes, where there was no decent explanation for his actions. (I wont be able to respond, Im done for the weekend until Saturday night).

Yeah, they said that he just needs a day or two off, nothing to do with the hip.

if he was “fatigued” why wouldnt the just have dh him the past 3 against washington —-another example of of not mishandlings his teams needs———-not running arod = acceptible — not having the pulse of his team =UNacceptible

Just because he isn’t Joe T, doesn’t make him a bad manager. Hell, Joe T. never won anything as a manager until he came to NY. Joe G., was Manager of the year before he came to the Yanks.
Joe T. has always reminded me of Jackson and Riely in the NBA…moves from one very talented team (until they get old), then moves on to another winner.

I don’t think any manager is liked in sports, because all fans think its such an easy job to do from their couch. Girardi has his team 2 games out of first place in the tough AL East, he’s doing a good job.

What troubles me is that Girardi left him in the lineup after he asked out, and had to have a conference call with Cashman before taking him out. Pehaps ARod wasn’t clear enough about wanting to be taken out the next day as oppposed to sometime soon – after all, he was returning home and had lots of friends and family coming to see him play Friday- but still why should Joe need to call Cashman to clear what he was doing with his lineup? Or was it ARod who contacted Cashman, because Girardi ignored his request?
