Scranton defeats Louisville, 11-5
- Eric Hacker started, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings, and striking out 3.
- Kevin Russo was 1 for 4 with a walk, but he’s still batting .449 on the year.
- Eric Duncan was 0 for 5, dropping his average to .239.
- Todd Linden was 1 for 5 with a double.
- John Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a homer, his 6th.
- Juan Miranda and Austin Jackson were each 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
Trenton defeats Binghamton, 9-2
- Wilkins De La Rosa, just promoted to AA, showed that he was ready to take on the next level. In 6 innings of work, De La Rosa gave up 5 hits and a walk in 6 shutout innings, while striking out 9. On the season, De La Rosa is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in 20 innings, and 26 strikeouts against just 5 walks. It doesn’t get much better than that.
- Eduardo Nunez was 1 for 4.
- Reegie Corona was 2 for 3 with a homer and a walk.
- Jorge Vazquez was 1 for 4 with a grand slam, his 4th homer of the season.
- Kevin Smith was 3 for 4 with a double.
Tampa defeats Dunedin, 8-6
- Grant Duff started, giving up a run on 3 hits and a walk in 3 innings.
- Tim Norton gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings, and struck out 3.
- Austin Krum was 1 for 2 with a triple and 3 walks. He also made an error.
- Jesus Montero, catching, was 0 for 4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts, dropping his average below .300. He’s only widening the disparity between his production as a catcher and as a DH.
- Damon Sublett was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a homer.
- Brandon Laird was 1 for 4 with a walk.
- Austin Romine was 1 for 5, and also stole a base.
- Wady Rufino was 2 for 3 with a double and a homer.
- Matt Cusick was 2 for 4 with a homer, adn was caught stealing.
Charleston over Asheville, 2-1
- David Phelps got the start, and pitched very well, giving up 6 hits in 7 shutout innings, and fannign 7.
- Pat Venditte gave up his first run of the season on 3 hits in 1 inning of work. His ERA still sits at 0.61, so he’s doing ok.
- Brad Rulon go the win, striking out 3 and allowing 2 hits in 1 inning of relief.
- Carmen Angelini was 1 for 4 with a walk, his 17th error (it’s been a while), and 2 stolen bases. He’s hitting .190 on the year, and the errors are certainly frustrating to hear about.
- David Adam was 1 for 4 with a walk.
- Brian Baisley was 3 for 5.
- Taylor Grote and Melky Mesa were each 1 for 4.
- Abe Almonte was 1 for 3 with a walk, raising his average to .227.

Do you think Montero may have to find another position? Its obvious that catching may be messing with his head. It seems like he’s bringing his defensive difficulties to the plate… no?

Almonte, Angelini, Sublett are not doing as well as I thought they would this year, Kevin Rosso is the only one still going strong. Cervelli and Brett are doing ok, at least they are in the Bigs…not hitting the way I think they will but, the whole team is underachieving (except Melky/Johnny) this year, again.
As for the tag team of Montero/Romine, they are doing quite well thank you. I have to agree with a few other (called a Flip/Flop) Posters/Bloggers out there, Montero may be the Yankees future DH/OF. If that is what they think…they will move him to the next level by June/July.
To be honest, I hope he can put the hitting and catching together…at least enough to be an adequate back-up. The kid would be much more valuable as a C/DH, not as OF/DH.
