Peter Abraham is reporting that Damaso Marte has been put on the DL and Anthony Claggett has been brought up. I guess some people owe Joe Girardi an apology. So far, the Yankees have lost their #2 starter, their 3B-man and cleanup hitter, their starting RF, and both of their 8th inning guys. It is a wonder that they are above .500.

Damn, with all these good things happening, how can we not be in 1st place? Joe G. must surly get the axe!
The only thing I can see is, the opportunity for the team to get all these injuries and set backs done with now. In a couple of weeks(+/-) we should be back to the norm.
Every year the BP has to be weeded out…this is no different. We still have; Mo, Bruney, Melancon, Coke and Robertson, ad a healthy body to them (maybe, Dunn, DeLa Rosa ?) and we are ready to go again. Veras, Aceves, Albaladejo even Horn (later) can get their stuff back…no time to panic.
I like them bringing Claggett back, he is better then he showed last time. Hope he kicks ass this time.

I think we see Dunn and I’m taking a leap and saying Horne as well.

Horne just returned from injury last night and was hit hard. I doubt they would call him up so quickly.

Oh, I was thinking more like September. That’s my wacky prospect prediction, I actually said that in my preseason prediction thread.

    I remember.
My hope is that he will be ready by Aug.,/Sept.,.
One guy I have not heard much of is Z-Mac, what’s up with him?

I do wish Dunn was at least in AAA. If he were I would consider calling him up.

Hey Moshe, glad to see that Girardi is getting some acknowledgment instead of constant vilifications. Here’s a guy that won 89 games last year with losing #1 Wang in June, having Darell Rasner & Sidney Ponson making up 40% of the rotation, Cano & Melky showing eminent immaturity, and Hughes & Kennedy being totally useless. Not to mention a somewhat defensively challenged team. 89 GAMES! he should have been manager of the DECADE!

Oh, and I forgot to mention losing Posada! …again 89 games…wow!

Some major bullpen restructuring is going to be needed mid-season for the Yankees.

Isn’t that what happens every year? One or more of the guys from the year before always seem to lose their way…at least, for a while. Sometimes, never to be heard from again!

To support your point, this is last seasons opening day bullpen.

    Mariano Rivera
    Joba Chamberlain
    LaTroy Hawkins
    Kyle Farnsworth
    Brian Bruney
    Billy Traber
    Ross Ohlendorf
    Jonathan Albaladejo

By August, Rivera was the only one left, with Bruney and Albie injured and Joba in the rotation. The bullpen had almost full turnover, and was very good all year. That is the nature of bullpens.
