Here’s a quick rundown of some notable news items:
1. The Yankee offense clicked today, plating 11 runs against Cincinnati pitching. Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez all had big days, yet somehow, the Yankees still managed to lose the game by 2 runs.
2. Both Jesus Montero and Jonathan Albaladejo left today’s game with injuries. Montero suffered a strained groin after attempting to block a wild pitch in the eighth and Albaladejo’s calf was hit by a hard liner (painful, yes). Montero will miss a few games while the Yankees will take the “wait and see” approach with Alby.
3. Robinson Cano is a generous man (h/t to RAB). Cano bought baseball jerseys for 6,000 kids in his hometown in the DR. He also bought 2 ambulances for the town — now that’s something.
