We did an article on Darvish recently. If that caught your interest, here’s a cool analysis of his latest performance from FanGraphs. Hmmm, 95mph with an unhittable slider? That sounds a lot like another young pitcher I know of. Hint: his name begins with a J and sounds like Schmobba.

You should check him out – he’s sick. His schmurveball is improving as well! Tom Gaffney(Quote)

Just to offer some clarity, Darvish does not sit in the mid-90s like Joba. He is 91-93 and can hit 94 or 95 on occasion while Joba sits in the mid-90s and touches 97 or 98. Also, Darvish’s best breaking ball is a curveball thrown in the high 70’s, a pitch which he did not use at all during the WBC because he said it slipped out of his hand when using the American baseball – which is more difficult to spin than Japanese baseballs. His slider is a good pitch, just not as strong a weapon as his spike curve. Anthony G.(Quote)
