Just a few links that I wanted to bring up but did not fit into their own post:

Brian Cashman said that he is satisfied with the situation in CF, as he expects Melky to bounce back and likes the hungry Gardner. If he is so confident, why did he offer a non-roster spot to Andruw Jones? (NYTimes.com, SI.com)

Also,  Rob Neyer addresses the analysis we posted this morning from Driveline Mechanics about the value of moving Jeter to CF, and he thinks that including Brett Gardner in the analysis would probably make the entire scenario a wash and therefore not worth undertaking.

The Baseball Analysts has a new projection system called Hit Tracker, and check out the line that they have for Mark Teixeira: .420 OBP, .588 SLG, 1.008 OPS, 32 HR’s. Wow.

MLB’s awful and strange blackout policy is not likely to change anytime soon. (Biz of Baseball)

The Yankees and Bank of America are still negotiating a sponsorship deal. BoA got federal funds in the bailout, so I would guess that the reaction will not be very positive when this deal is announced. (Charlotte Observer)

A writer in Boston thinks the Yankees are better than the Sox, but says that Papelbon is better than Mariano right now. He’s half right. (Providence Journal)

You know how you can tell that statistics are becoming more mainstream? When a movie about a GM who uses them (Moneyball) is going to be directed by Steven Soderbergh, with Brad Pitt taking the lead role. (Variety)
